| Description: |
Animals in Distress is a non-profit, tax deductible sanctuary founded in 1977 in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. We provide an alternative to euthanasia for animals who have little or no hope elsewhere. Injured and abused animals have a place to recuperate and rehabilitate until they are able to find a suitable home. Our shelter is an important and reassuring symbol of hope and caring in a throwaway society. We believe that there is a special home somewhere for every pet if there is enough time to find it. Regardless of age or injury, we provide each animal with veterinary care, food, behavioral rehabilitation, environment enrichment, and love at our shelter. We keep the animals until they find a home and, if they do not find a home, they remain with us for life. All donations are used for animal care expense. Much of the work at the shelter is done by unpaid volunteers, who are the mainstay of the organization. The shelter receives no tax or public monies and relies entirely on donations and fund raisers for its operating budget.

The AHS is the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The Society was originally chartered to protect women, children and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. The Shelter was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its present location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930's.
The AHS extends compassion to animals and people. Services and programs include: animal intake and care, adoptions, education, advocacy, consultation and crises intervention, food bank, hospital/clinic, rescue, resource for social service agencies, and support of the indigent. The Society, the only agency providing such extensive and focused animal welfare services in the Southeast, serves its constituency with hope.

The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to conserving and protecting New Jersey’s endangered and threatened wildlife.
This is accomplished through CWF’s financial assistance, public education efforts and community outreach initiatives which support the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Endangered & Nongame Species Program. It’s hard to believe for people who live outside of New Jersey that we have one of the most diverse wildlife populations in the nation. From the majestic bald eagles that fly and nest along the Delaware Bay, to the ospreys that build their nests on urban bridges and along the Atlantic shore, to the bobcats that seek shelter in the rocky terrain of Sussex and Warren Counties, to the bog turtles who sun themselves on wetland tussocks in farmers’ fields, New Jersey is home to over 70 endangered and threatened species. These are species that struggle for survival everyday in the most densely populated state in the nation.
Wildlife depends on us for their survival -- because while humans can negatively upset the balance of our natural environment, we can also change and improve it.
The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ was created to help support the efforts of the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program. The foundation is governed by an esteemed board of trustees who represent some of New Jersey's leading corporations who care about the environment – and the future of the state’s natural wildlife heritage. |

Each year, we have seen the volume of farm animal cruelty cases reported, and the need for emergency rescues grow dramatically. SPCAs, humane societies and animal control agencies throughout the country are increasingly requesting our assistance with farm animal abuse cases and placement of rescued animals. As public awareness about farm animal cruelty increases, we are receiving more and more calls each year.
A crucial component of humane enforcement work is the ability to seize and shelter abused and abandoned farm animals during cruelty investigations and prosecution efforts. Unless a shelter facility is available for the abused animals, local law enforcement agencies are often unable to confiscate the animals. Unfortunately, the lack of a shelter facility has often been used as a reason to fail to take action; or, if farm animals are confiscated, they are sent to slaughterhouses or livestock markets.
Donations to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND enable us to respond to suffering farm animals immediately when we receive cruelty reports. Animals left starving, dying, freezing, and alone can know that there are people who care in this world…people who will do whatever it takes to stop their pain and bring them to sanctuary. Farm animals are counting on us to be there in their time of need. We can’t do it without you. Your contribution to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND today is greatly appreciated, and will directly save lives and end suffering.
Please call 1-607-583-2225 ext. 221 to make a donation to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND using your credit card, follow link below to make a donation using their secure online form or mail payment to: Farm Sanctuary, PO Box 150, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.

| Description: |
Farm Sanctuary's Legacy Society was established to express gratitude to members who have made a commitment through a bequest. By including Farm Sanctuary in your estate plans, you can leave a legacy memorializing a lifetime of compassion for farm animals.
Farm Sanctuary's investigations and research, public awareness projects, legislative and legal actions, rescue efforts and education programs work together to create a more humane future for farm animals - and through a planned gift to Farm Sanctuary, you can guarantee that your voice for farm animals carries on, until farm animals are protected from abuse forever.
Your Bequest to Farm Sanctuary
Preparing a will is important to do today because it ensures that your assets are passed on according to your wishes. A will is a legal document, and you will need to consult a lawyer in drawing and modifying your will. Every state has specific procedures for wills and the distribution of estates that must be followed or your will could be deemed invalid. Without a will, or if your will is invalid, your property and life savings will be distributed according to the laws of your state and without regard to your dreams or goals for a better world.
Your charitable bequest can be (i) a fixed dollar amount; (ii) specific property such as real estate (e.g., residences, farms, unimproved land), stock or personal property; (iii) a percentage of your total estate or (iv) the residual of your estate after other bequests are paid.
In addition to a bequest in your will, you can also designate Farm Sanctuary as a beneficiary in your life insurance policy, your retirement account (individual retirement accounts, pension plans, 401(k) plans) and your ban or brokerage accounts (saving accounts, certificates of deposit, money market accounts).
Legal Designation
Your attorney may wish to use the following language when making a bequest to Farm Sanctuary:
I give, devise, and bequeath to Farm Sanctuary, Inc., federal tax identification number 51-0292919, 3100 Aikens Road, Watkins Glen, NY 14891 the sum of: $________________ (or describe the real or personal property or portion of the estate) to be used for its general purposes.

People sometimes ask us what NJI is. Is it an organization or a coalition? We tell them that it is both. It's an organization in so far as it and its sister organization, the North Jersey Independent Alliance, function as organizations -- with by-laws, procedures, officers and organizational activities. Yet it is a coalition too! Amendment Fourteen of our bylaws establishes a mechanism by which other organizations may associate themselves and their members with us. Our membership also reflects a wide diversity of tendencies and views: we include amongst our ranks independent-progressives, socialists of various stripe, labor people, greens, anarchists (a lot of our activities transcend the electoral arena) and even the occasional liberal.
-
Hopefully, in the years to come, the vital resource which we have become, will be used by more of our friends and neighbors in their daily struggle against the capitalist and corporate class and their handmaiden, the state |

We at NBR, believe that a Boxer is just about the perfect friend. However, he or she will demand a lot from you. They'll rely on you for nearly everything; food, water, shelter, protection, training, exercise, grooming, veterinary care, and of course love and companionship. While it is important to choose the right Boxer for your needs, it is equally important to ensure that you can meet theirs. You must prepare for their arrival, and make them a well-mannered and welcome member of your community. The responsibilities of being a guardian of any dog are great, but the love and friendship you'll receive in return is priceless. Breed Specific Rescue for Boxers |

Open Your Heart is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing cats from NJ animal shelters. We foster the cats in our homes, take care of their veterinary needs and learn their personality, and then place the cats with carefully-screened families who promise to love them forever!
All Open Your Heart cats and kittens have been rescued from animal shelters. Our cats are fully vaccinated, dewormed, tested for leukemia and FIV, and spayed or neutered before adoption.
Open Your Heart is a local organization, so we prefer to adopt our cats to people who live within driving distance of Hillsborough, NJ. If you live far away, we encourage you to visit your own local animal shelter to meet the wonderful cats who are waiting for homes.
New Jersey animal shelters must destroy cats every day - there's simply too many of them! Often, Open Your Heart represents the last chance for these shelter cats... but only if we have room in our foster homes to accommodate them.
By adopting a cat from Open Your Heart, you can free up space for another needy cat who would otherwise be put down at a shelter. Please help us help them - adopt one of our loving foster cats!

Founded in 1980, People for Animals, Inc. is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to ending animal suffering. We were chosen by the State of New Jersey to participate in a pilot program to reduce animal overpopulation, and in 1985, opened the first Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic of its kind in this State. Over 5,800 spay and neuter surgeries are performed in our clinic yearly, thus preventing the birth of thousands of unwanted dogs and cats. In addition, we are the recipient of several grants from such distinguished foundations as Geraldine R. Dodge, Pet Savers, PETsMART Charities, Bernice Barbour, and DJ&T (Bob Barker of TV fame).
The other service that we provide is a Pet Rescue and Adoption Program. This Program, staffed by volunteers, provides medical care, food and shelter to rescued stray and abandoned animals until permanent, loving homes can be found. Adoption Days are held every week at a variety of locations.
With your support, we will continue the following programs and services:
Humane Education - through presentations by speakers and distribution of literature, we promote responsible pet ownership which includes kindness to animals and the importance of spaying and neutering.
Foster Homes - we maintain a network of foster homes for animals awaiting adoption.
Pet Therapy - volunteers and their pets visit nursing homes on a regular basis, bringing pleasure and comfort to the residents.
Newsletter - we distribute a quarterly newsletter informing over 12,000 readers of PFA fundraisers, activities, animals awaiting adoption and other animal related issues.
Referral Line - we maintain a 24-hour referral line to deal with questions and problems relating to animal care, activities, adoptions, lost animals etc.
Fundraisers - we hold several fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds for our Pet Rescue and Adoption Program.
If you are saddened by the horrible consequences of animal overpopulation, please join us in our efforts to end this suffering. We are always in need of volunteers, donors, and members. |

To preserve and protect the Wild Horses this organization proposes the following legislature:
require that wild horse HMAs be brought back to their original 306, not 201; requires that 50,000 wild horses be allowed (as intended by existing law) to roam freely on government lands inside those 306 HMAs; asks the government to give 600,000 AUMs (of the more than 22.3 million allotted — or less than 3%) back to wild horses (BLM, on the other hand, is gearing up to push the horse onto 1% of the allotted AUMs, even though, under the law, horses, as well as cattle, have a right to be in those allotments); offers public lands ranchers a $500 allotment incentive per year per wild horse (the majority of public lands ranchers enjoy a lifestyle that has little to do with making money, but they must still provide for themselves. Nothing in their lives would change. They would continue to pay the government their required grazing fees. But if they allowed wild horses on their allotted AUMs — as opposed to cattle — our bill would give them a $500 allotment incentive per year per wild horse); gives private wild horse sanctuaries a tax credit (at the point at which wild horses exceeded their 50,000 level, the |

The Wild Animal Orphanage (WAO) is one of the nation's largest and
most reputable non-profit permanent sanctuaries for unwanted,
abused, and non-releasable wild and exotic animals, and is licensed
by the USDA under the Animal Welfare Act. The WAO also serves
as an educational facility for schools and the general public.
Proper diets and veterinary care are provided for a wide variety of
species who have found a home at the orphanage.
Eighty percent of these animals arrived malnourished, neglected and/or
permanently maimed by the removal of their fangs and/or claws.
They now are thriving due to the loving attention of qualified staff.
WAO was founded in 1983, and is situated on 10 acres in Northwest Bexar County. WAO currently houses over 600 unwanted wild
and exotic animals that were cast-off from the pet trade or the
entertainment industry. WAO houses such animals as lions, tigers,
bears, cougars, bobcats, jaguars, leopards, foxes, coatimundi,
numerous small mammals, and birds. Many of these animals are on the
endangered species list. WAO is also home to 50 unwanted domestic cats.
If not for WAO, most of the animals in our care would have died.
Mission Statement:
The Wild Animal Orphanage is a non-profit permanent sanctuary,
dedicated to giving quality lifetime care to unwanted, abused, and
non-releasable wild and exotic animals. It is the mission of the WAO
to provide a sanctuary to the ever-increasing population of wild and
exotic animals that are being displaced from the exotic pet trade,
roadside zoos and breeders. WAO accepts animals that no one else
will take, whose only alternative would be euthanasia. WAO strives to
educate the public in a responsible manner for the protection of the
public and the animals in its care.

Mission:
To Protect America's Wild Horses and Burros as an Integral Part of Our Public Lands in Accordance With the Wild Horse and Burro Act.
Below are just a few of the important actions the Alliance has taken to protect wild horses and burros. For more information, contact Alliance member organizations individually by email, or visit their websites (listed on the PARTNERS page).
The Fund for Animals and Animal Legal Defense Fund have filed a lawsuit against the BLM over their Plan to Manage Wild Horses and Burros to Extinction. For more details, see our NEWS page.
The American Horse Defense Fund and the Animal Welfare Institute have worked with US Congresswoman Connie Morella (R-MD) to encourage the introduction of a bill to Congress the goal of which is to end the mass slaughter of ALL America's horses.
The Alliance is working on research on PZP, an immunocontraceptive drug being given to many mares in western herds. We are urging the BLM to conduct research on behavioral problems we fear may occur with the use of the drug.
Alliance members Animal Legal Defense Fund, Animal Protection Institute, Colorado Wild Horse and Burro Coalition, The Fund for Animals, Hooved Animal Humane Society, the Humane Society of the United States, Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Wild Horse Spirit joined with other humane organizations and the BLM to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting 34 wild horses in Wyoming.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund was instrumental in saving the lives of foals from the Bonanza area in Utah who had tested positive for EIA. Due to the efforts of humane groups, these foals were held and re-tested for EIA 6 months later instead of being immediately euthanized. All were successfully adopted out.

WildAid works to provide direct protection to wildlife in danger. One of our goals is to decimate the illegal wildlife trade within our lifetime. Our innovative solutions to conservation threats are credible, efficient, cost-effective, and deliver direct and measurable results. As the new face of environmentalism, the New York Times Magazine described WildAid's approach as aggressive, but economically comprehensive.
WildAid provides direct protection for wildlife in danger.
Our driving goals under this mission are:
---To decimate the illegal wildlife trade in our lifetimes
---To bring wildlife conservation to the top of the international agenda
---To effectively and affordably protect wilderness areas
---To ensure that endangered species populations rebound
---To enable people and wildlife to survive together
WildAid's Core Values
WildAid believes that the ecological damage, cruelty and corruption involved in the illegal wildlife trade are both unnecessary and morally unacceptable - that these activities constitute a theft from future generations.
WildAid believes that it is the duty of both the governments and citizens of wealthier nations to provide technical and financial support to less wealthy nations to protect our common heritage.
We want a world where our invaluable natural riches are not ravaged, one in which local communities can improve their lives without destroying their environment, and where humanity can survive together with wildlife for generations to come. We believe the time for prolonged scientific studies, meetings, political maneuvering and direct mailings has passed. It is time for action, before it is too late.
WildAid's Approach
Our innovative solutions to conservation threats are credible, efficient, cost-effective, and deliver direct and measurable results.
Our frontline programs address the entire trade cycle, from poaching to smuggling to consumption, rather than carrying out yet more research. We reduce poaching by protecting parks and helping local communities find economic alternatives to poaching; we fight the illegal trade through specialized wildlife police units; and we lower demand for wildlife products by raising awareness and changing consumer behavior.
WildAid sends 100% of public donations directly to the field. WildAid is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization founded by dedicated environmental advocates with more than 30 years of experience. WildAid is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Vladivostok, Phnom Penh, Bangkok, London, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
Working with governments, local groups, consumers - and with your support - we can succeed in changing the world.
